Kyriana Smith

Kyriana began dancing at the age of three at Steps off Broadway Dance Studio in Milford MA, under the direction of Keith Mattolla. Here she participated in Ballet, Tap and Musical Theatre classes. At age five she began taking classes at her current dance studio, The Dance Company located in Blackstone MA, under the direction of Heidi Schnorr Smith. Kyriana spent fifteen years taking numerous classes in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and Tap. Through the years Kyriana performed with The Dance Company's "Heart & Soul" Competition team. During this time she competed group dances, and trios in multiple well known competitions all over New England. Kyriana also participated in her high school winter percussion ensemble as a lead dancer and choreographed all school pep rallys from the years 2009 to 2013. Although performing is a large part of Kyriana's dance career, she found her greatest love in teaching the art itself. Kyriana was a demonstrator, junior instructor and senior assistant teacher for over seven years. During this time period she taught and assisted in beginner through intermediate classes. Kyriana has hosted princess ballet camp at her home studio The Dance Company, and completed an internship at Sandras Dance at Studio 28 her sophomore year of college. Kyriana is entering her second season as a staff member at Dance and Beyond where she is teaching ballet, pointe, Conditioning, and Jazz.

 

Kyriana takes extreme pride in spreading her knowledge of dance to others. Her patient and caring instruction method allows for not only a friendly learning environment but an overall positive experience for each individual student. Kyriana was awarded the Assistant Teacher Award for her commitment, dedication and loyalty from 2010 to 2013. Kyriana plans to own and direct her own dance studio in the near future where she will continue to pass on her passion for the art form. Kyriana would not be where she is today without the support of her parents and her role model/teacher Heidi Schnorr Smith.
